Less than two weeks from my previous post, young Mr Knighton sets the track ablaze with a 19.49 second 200m, the fourth fastest of all time. And a World under-20 Record for the 18-year-old (born 29-Jan-04).
Now the speculations will come as to whether he can go on to win various races at Championship level (NCAA, World Trials, etc), and if he is the young man to fill Usain Bolt's shoes as World Record-holder.
He might be challenged by Letsile Tebogo, following his Record sprint in Gaborone, Botswana. At the same meeting Christine Mboma of Namibia competed in a couple of events winning the 100m in 10.97 and the 200m in 21.87. The shorter race-time was a Namibian National and African under-20 Record, while the longer race-time was a mere 0.09 seconds slower than her own World under-20 Record!
