    Yes, he was the leading javelin thrower among under-20 men, but Neeraj Chopra managed to startle the experts (and himself) by adding more than 4m to his previous best, and nearly 2m to the prevailing World Junior Record when his second-round effort cut the turf at 86.48m (good enough to rank 8th with the "big boys" in 2016). However, he did not qualify at the Indian National Champs, so was not selected in their Olympic team.
